Biography

Kurt Angle was a top American collegiate wrestler at Clarion State in Pennsylvania, winning NCAA titles in 1990 and 1992, and finishing as the runner-up in 1991. At the World Cup he won a bronze medal in 1992 in Moscow and a silver medal in 1995 at Chattanooga, Tennessee. Angle won the 100 kg World Championship in 1995 and entered the Atlanta Olympics as a favorite in that class, coming through for the gold medal. It was only a prelude to his professional career, in which he became one of the best-known American professional wrestlers.

Angle joined the Worldwide Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1998 and in 2000 won both the Intercontinental and European Championships of WWF. Shortly after winning the King of the Ring Tournament, Angle won the WWF Championship in late 2000. He wrestled for WWF, later called WWE, until 2006, and won every title available to him in that organization. Angle then joined Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, where he won five TNA World Heavyweight Championships, was a two-time TNA World Tag Team Champion and a one-time TNA X Division Champion, the second Triple Crown winner in TNA history, and became the only one to hold all available titles at once.

Angle is the only wrestler to win the Triple Crown with both the WWE and TNA. He was the first wrestler to win the WWE, WCW, TNA, IWGP, and World Heavyweight Championships. With all groups, Angle won 12 World Championships and 20 total championships. In 2010 the Wrestling Observer Newsletter named him the Wrestler of the Decade for the 2000s.

In 2009 Angle made his film début in End Game and has since embarked on an acting career, appearing in multiple roles in film and on television.
