The company Bensel, Kamps and Amsinck were among the most important firms for this kind of private construction and were also involved in church construction. As one of the renowned architecture offices in Hamburg, the firm survived World War I and the changeover to the early years of the Nazi Regime. When Amsinck was recruited for World War II in 1943 the office was liquidated.
