Claude Allen competed for Syracuse University and the Irish-American AC. He was AAU Indoor Champion in the pole vault in 1907, and outdoors finished 2nd in both 1907 and 1908 in the AAU vault. While at Syracuse he also played basketball. After college he became a coach and physical education teacher, working at Niagara University, St. John's University, and Oklahama State (then Oklahoma A&M), before returning to the Syracuse faculty in 1914.
