Aleksandr Aksinin made his début in international competition at the 1976 Olympics, where he won the bronze medal as a member of the Soviet 4x100 relay team. In 1977 he won gold at the Universiade with the Soviet 4x100 team and, at the 1978 European Championships, he was seventh in the 200, winning a bronze in the 4x100. At the Moscow Olympics in 1980 Aksinin was fourth in the 100 and ran the third leg for the gold medal winning Soviet 4x100 team. Aksinin ended his running career after the 1982 European Championships, where he won gold with the 4x100 team. He was also Soviet 200 metre champion in 1976 and 4x100 metre champion in 1974, 1978 and 1980. Personal Best: 100 – 9.9 (1980). |
