Biography

Walter Adams' sporting career led to national championships over 800 metres in 1968-69 and 1972. In 1970 he was national runner-up and ran on the winning 4×800 m relay team. Adams equaled the European record over 800 m in 1970 and set two records in the 4×800 m relay (1966) and the 4×880 yds. relay (1968). In 1968 he was awarded the "Silbernes Lorbeerblatt" (Bayleaf in Silver). Walter Adams later owned a photo-design-studio, but in 1984 he sold all his properties and sailed around the world on his own boat.

Personal Bests: 800 – 1:44.90 (1970); 1500 – 3:37.5 (1968).
