Héctor Acosta had the following podium finishes at major championships: 1st in the 1959 Pan American Games road race team (with Ricardo Senn and the non-Olympian Carlos Vázquez), 2nd in the 1963 Pan American Games 4000 metre pursuit team (with Ernesto Contreras, Alberto Trillo, and the non-Olympian Juan Broto), 3rd in the 1959 Pan American Games 4000 metre pursuit team (with Ricardo Senn, Federico Cortés, and the non-Olympian Antonio Alexandre).
