Giuseppe Abbagnale

Giuseppe Abbagnale was one-half of the great Italian brother rowing tandem. Together with his younger brother, Carmine, Giuseppe Abbagnale won the pair oars with cox at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics and the 1981, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1989, and 1990 World Championships. Together the brothers lived near the ruins of the ancient city of Pompeii and trained on salt water in a Mediterranean Bay near Naples. A third brother, Agostino Abbagnale, was also a renowned rower who won three Olympics gold medals.
