Recent Additions to the Site

Posted by Sean Forman on March 2, 2010

In the last couple of days I have added some new pages to the site, so let me take a few minutes to outline the new additions.

On the season pages there is a new drop-down menu that looks like this:

Seasons Dropdown

Let me describe the new pages for you:

  • The expanded standings pages have a summary of the schools that competed that season. You can sort the schools by SRS, W-L%, etc.
  • The expanded polls pages show the poll results for each week of the season, and they also show you how far up or down the school has moved since the last poll.
  • The expanded leaders pages list the top 25 in each leader board statistic, so you can quickly find the season leaders for statistics such as points, rebounds, assists, and Win Shares.

There is also a new drop-down menu on the conference pages:

Conference Dropdown

Here are descriptions of the new pages:

  • The expanded leaders pages list the top 25 in each leader board statistic, so you can quickly find the conference leaders for statistics such as points, rebounds, assists, and Win Shares. Please note that these leaders are based on all games played, not just conference games.
  • The statistics pages list the main statistics for all players who played for one of the schools in a given conference. Please note that these statistics are for all games played, not just conference games.

As always, if you find any errors on these pages please let us know about them.

    Great work, Jason Justin!

    How long until you all get up minutes played data? That’s all that’s left before Statistical Plus/Minus runs can be done…

  2. Michael Says:

    Any way you could link players on this site that went on to play any professional sport to their page on the other sites? I think that would be a cool feature, and they just added it across the pro sports recently.

  3. DSmok1 Says:

    Sorry, Justin! I really do know who you are…

    I just found out you now have a NCAAB site. A few questions:

    1. The SRS numbers include the tournament, right. Can you include a separate rating for pre-tournament SRS numbers? Conference tournament results are ok, but it would be interesting to see where a team was before the big one started.

    2. More term explanations. What is RTFN, RTF, RF after team names?

    3. Is SOS the same as SRS without including margin of victory? If so, pre-tournament numbers on this, also, please.

    4. Expecting current season info in the future? I calculate my own SRS numbers in excel before the tournament starts.

    5. Is there a plan for more team info for “old” seasons? Like 1980’s SMU with Jon Konkak. How about the rest of the team? Or even teams from the 70, 60s, 50s? Prior? I know you need researchers to do this and it takes a long time. But would be fantastic.

    * = NCAA Tournament Appearance
    R = Conference Regular Season Champion
    T = Conference Tournament Champion
    F = Final Four Appearance
    N = National Champion

    Any chance of adding NIT appearance info, particularly for the period 1940s-early 1970s when it was a legitimately first rate tourney.

    Thanks.
