Today I'm happy to announce a major addition to College Football at Sports-Reference.com. We now have passing, rushing, and receiving stats for all FBS (nee Division I-A) schools dating back to the 1977 season, and for schools from prominent conferences (ACC, Big 8/Big 7, Big Ten, Pac-12/Pac-10/Pac-8/AAWU/PCC, SEC, and SWC) we have passing, rushing, and receiving stats dating back to the 1956 season.

PFR user Oscar asked today about whether we had a football version of Baseball-Reference's Hall of Fame standards using Weighted Career Approximate Value. To that end, I analyzed weighted career AV data on retired players who started their careers in 1950 or later. Here was a breakdown of all Hall of Famers in that group:

Here's a neat tool that lets you find every player in NFL history (since 1950) to wear a certain number... It can even allow you search by team.

We are spinning up a new database server (transitioning from unitas => rice (Jerry)) and will have what I expect to be a minute or so of downtime as we make the switch. I expect to flip the switch at 2:30 pm.

Using the NFL's scheduling formula combined with the final records of everyone from 2012, it's possible to determine who will be playing who in 2013 -- and more. Follow the "Schedules" links from your team's franchise page and we'll list at least fourteen games of the season for the next four years, and all 16 for the upcoming season (including last year's won-loss and total opponent winning percentage). Unfortunately, the "when" for these games will have to wait until the NFL officially releases its schedule in April, but hopefully this can tide you over till then.

Two quick notes:

• We now have a "Super Bowl" option under Game Type in the Player Game Finder. This will let you run searches for things like the most kick return yards in a Super Bowl (almost, Jacoby Jones, almost).
• You can also search all plays from scrimmage in Super Bowl history using the special Super Bowl Play Finder. (Flacco-to-Jones was one of the longest pass plays in Super Bowl history.)
