I'm not sure why it took me 8 years to do this, but you can now search for walkoffs in the game finder play index tools.

Using the game finder you can find all of the walkoff wins and losses for your team. Using the controls at the top you can even see who's had the most walkoff wins or losses in a season. Please keep in mind that this is 100% complete back to 1974 and then will get progressively less complete back to 1940, though still pretty good. You can always check our coverage page to figure out what might be missing. When searching for walkoffs, we will also print out the type of play and the batter and pitcher involved, since we know that's what you want to see.

You can now search for attendance related searches on the Team Game and Streak Finders. This allows you to find things like which teams have had the most 15,000 fans or less games in a season. Or which teams have the longest streaks of 40,000 fans or more. Enjoy.

Folks seemed to like the hitter's pitching option, so I've added a pitcher's in the field option. Check the box shown below and then click the set of positions you want above to see an output. For instance, get a list of PH home runs by pitchers.

We've gotten a couple of requests for this, and it's true that non-pitcher pitching is WAY up this year despite 7 and 8 man bullpens and reduced run scoring. The option is in the third column. See below:

There is a caveat on this. We are including players who mostly played as position players in this list, so searching for 1915 will return a whole lot of Babe Ruth and similarly Rick Ankiel and Brooks Kieschnick will show up in 2004 searches. Be warned.

Pitching Game Finder - Baseball-Reference.com.

This is a subtle one, but as you may know play-by-play and ergo certain split data like platoon info and count data is not complete back to 1914. We have 100% of play-by-play back to 1973 and the 98%+ back to 1954. Details Here.

So we are now allowing you to exclude the split seasons from the Play Index Split Finder where incomplete totals may occur, so a pre 1973 platoon split, or a pre 1988 by count split.

Just a note that we've added turnover type to our Play Index Event Finder tool.

In particular, you can now find any of the following for a team or player:

Though we've been quietly updating these data sets for several weeks, consider this our formal announcement of 2014 play-by-play and shooting data. You can find this data in several places on our site. For example, our boxscores now include links for play logs, shot charts, and plus minus summaries. Several play-by-play features are found on our player pages, including detailed shot charts and shooting splits, statistical summaries for all lineup combinations, and on-off summaries. We've also updated our advanced play-by-play tables on the player pages, where you can find plus-minus per 100 figures as well as detailed scoring and turnover statistics. Most importantly, we're updating our Play Index+ database daily, so that you can take advantage of our powerful search tools to find, for example, all steals by Michael Carter Williams, or all the players with game-winning, buzzer-beating dunks.

With the 2013-14 NBA season starting next week it's time for a reminder to check out the Basketball-Reference Play Index.
