Mike Trout Statistics and History - Baseball-Reference.com.

Ignoring for the moment there is another game to play tonight, I ran the sim scores this afternoon and uploaded the pages. I'll get around to rerunning them tomorrow, probably for the Rays and Rangers. Here is our explanation of sim scores.

Trivialities – BA, OBP, SLG on PI Game Finder & New Split

Posted by admin on September 20, 2013

Batting Game Finder -- - Baseball-Reference.com.

The batting game finder now has criteria and sort options for BA, SLG and OBP, so you can do things like find out easily how often Ted Williams when 3 for 3 or better (37 times) or how many times Barry Bonds reached base in every PA of a game (no min.) 153 times.

The other things is we will be adding this weekend (should show up Sat. and just for 2013) a split for the player results in PA's where they swung at the first pitch and PA's where they took the first pitch. We'll do it for our historical data when we run the whole shebang at the end of the season.

Some Small, Random BBref Improvements

Posted by admin on September 1, 2013

I'm working on fixing a lot of bugs today (family's out of town, so I'm getting some back work done).

Today I've:

  1. Added a PH/PR option to the positions for the batting season finder.
  2. Allowed you to search on Offensive and Defensive WAR on the Season finder.
  3. On minor league player pages, there is now a level summary showing the totals by level in rank order of the level. Before it was the ordered by the # of seasons in each level.

Japanese Baseball (1936-yesterday) – Baseball-Reference.com

Posted by admin on August 30, 2013

Japanese Baseball History - Baseball-Reference.com.

We are very pleased to announce that we have added complete NPB stats back to the start of professional baseball in Japan in 1936. This work was compiled from existing sources by Ted Turocy (creator of the Chadwick Baseball Bureau). These stats are updated daily, so you can track Wladimir Balentien's chase of Sadaharu Oh.

This data was also incorporated into our MLB players pages. So if you go to Ichiro's page, you will now see a "Show NPB/Minors" link above his batting stats and clicking on that will show you his NPB stats along with his mlb stats.

As it turns out, if the Giants "hang on" to the bottom spot in the West, it will mark only the second time in the World Series era (1903-present) that a champion went on to finish last the following season. The only other team to do that were the 1998 Florida Marlins, who infamously jettisoned all of their talent a year after winning it all.
